We actually met by complete accident online. Haz followed me on TikTok after spotting a comment I'd left on a video - strange, considering neither of us had ever posted anything. I decided to slide into the DMs, and we quickly realised how many invisible strings were already tying us together. Our family homes were just 20 minutes apart, and when we both moved to London, we had unknowingly lived on the very same street. It felt like fate was working in real time. 

Haz proposed during our two week road trip around California, a trip we’d been planning all summer. We started in LA before heading to palm springs to visit our friend Todd (who later ended up marrying us at the ceremony). I’d first met Todd on a work press trip to palm springs the year before, were we visited the Frey House II, a mid-century modern home designed by Albert Frey. I fell completely in love with the house, the architecture, and the magic of palm springs. 

Little did I know, Haz had secretly rented the Frey House for a private tour. At Sunset, overlooking the desert, she proposed. She’d even made a playlist, her brother was there to film it, and we toasted with champagne before dinner at Bar Cecil. It was everything I could have dreamed of. 

I wasn’t sure what I wanted and kept an open mind. I started with the Farnham Boutique to ease into it with my mum, sister and mother in law before heading to London appointments. I tried on a few MWL designs and loved them all - they felt timeless but still modern, simple but elevated.

Rhode was the third dress I tried on and I instantly knew. It felt like me- not like I was playing dress-up. It was classic, timeless, comfortable, and so beautifully made. I also loved that MWL offered split sizing and tweaks to make it feel truly tailored to me. 

We pulled a lot of inspiration from vintage design and interiors. Our invites were inspired by art in our home, our tablescape mirrored how we host dinners with friends, and we layered in details that felt timeless but celebratory. It was a mix of our personal tastes and it came together exactly how we wanted. 

The smaller details were my favourite part. Instead of canapes, we had a beautiful spread by Kelly's London, designed as a bespoke menu of seasonal bites that our guests are still talking about. 

Our friend Todd officiated, our mums and my step-mum did readings, and we wrote our own vows. My mum and I thrifted silverware for months, collecting bowls and platters from car boot sales and charity shops. My mother in law grew most of the flowers and we arranged them with pots we collected. 

I also worked with Limbo Candles on a bespoke scent for the marquee, we designed custom wine labels, and Haz’s brother surprised us with custom Tony’s Chocolonely bars. My bridesmaids passed around a camcorder and Super8 to capture in-between moments, and my best friends helped design custom matchbooks - a nod to my collection from travels.

And for the afterparty? Haz learnt to DJ in the six months leading up to the wedding. We channeled Charli XCX energy and it was the most fun way to end the night.

Romantic, magic, joyful. 

There are so many, but arriving at our cocktail reception in a vintage car, hearing the jazz band playing, and seeing all our friends and family in one place felt surreal. The speeches too - full of love and laughter - are memories I’ll carry forever. 

Slow down and be present - the day goes by in a blur. Treasure the little moments: dancing with your bridesmaids, holding your partner’s hand, seeing all your loved ones together. Don’t stress about perfection - something will always go off plan, and that’s okay. 

Wear comfortable shoes, stay hydrated and eat something before the ceremony. Take a quiet moment before walking down the aisle, and try to carve out a few minutes alone with your partner during the day.

Most of all, remember it’s your day. Lean into what feels meaningful for you and your partner, and let go of the rest.
